Assembly Operator

Purpose and objectives of the role

An Assembly Operator is an individual who works in various electronic assemblies within the manufacturing area. This operator will receive training on various processes and machines to complete customer orders and may also be trained to work in different departments within the division.

The main departments within the division:

  • High Level Assembly (HLA) – Assemble high level assemblies and box build products in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions and quality / IPC standards.
  • Through Hole – Carry out high quality through hole hand soldering and associated PCB assembly tasks in line with engineering drawings, work instructions and quality / IPC standards
  • Selective Solder – To set up, operate and maintain selective soldering equipment to produce high quality soldered PCB assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions and quality / IPC standards
  • Stores – Completing deliveries and managing stock levels.
  • Despatch - Working with the planners to ensure work is shipped out correctly.
  • Surface Mount Technology (SMT)– To set up, operate and maintain SMT equipment to produce high quality PCBA’s in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions and quality / IPC standards.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Hands-on working within electromechanical assembly, electronics assemblies and wiring / harness

PCB Department Supervisor (Building B)

Purpose and objectives of the role

The purpose of the Department Supervisor is to ensure that all production targets are met by utilising resources effectively, and that all manufactured products are delivered within the committed timescales and at the standard and quality always expected by the company.

The Department Supervisor plays a vital role in planning, organising, coordinating, and controlling production within their designated area (Drilling, Press, Resin Fill and Wet Process). The main responsibility is to ensure that all products are manufactured efficiently and meet the required quantity and quality standards, thereby fulfilling customer demands.

Main duties and responsibilities

To perform and undertake the following processes:

  • They must work closely with the PCB management team to consistently deliver the best quality service and products to our customers, as well as to other departments and divisions within the organisation.
  • They will collaborate with other Department Supervisors to ensure the smooth flow of work across the division.
  • Conduct cross-building training to ensure maximum holiday coverage.
  • Overall control of all aspects of PCB Department Production, including responsibility for all production operators under their control.
  • Managing available resources to ensure production throughput targets and schedules are maintained within the required quality standards.
  • Liaise with the Planning and Tooling department on workloads and delivery schedules.
  • Responsible for overseeing production control within their department, including scheduling, monitoring progress, expeditions, and managing remakes in collaboration with fellow department supervisors.
  • Ensuring production targets and goals set for the Company are met, and processes are adequately staffed.
  • Report on why targets were not met and what actions are to be taken to rectify this.
  • Inform Customers through the Customer service team if parts will not be shipped as scheduled and provide a confirmed re-ship date.
  • Ensuring that the production stays cost-efficient.
  • Ensure all staff under their supervision are adequately trained to perform tasks safely and meet the quality standards required by the company.
  • Advise on requirements for new manpower, providing cost justification where necessary.
  • Monitor the production processes and modify schedules as necessary, in collaboration with the Production Manager or immediate supervisor.
  • Be aware of all process and machine capacities and make recommendations if required for new or upgraded processes and machines to meet production targets.
  • Responsible for machine maintenance within their department, reporting faults promptly to maintenance and the Production Manager.
  • Collaborate with other management and staff to implement the company's policies and objectives.
  • Support the Divisions' Apprenticeship programme by mentoring and educating the Divisions' Apprentices.
  • Conduct 3, 6, 9 and 12-month performance reviews.
  • Responsible for Holiday allocation and controlling cover for holiday periods if required in their department – also liaise with other department supervisors on shift cover if needed.
  • Complete approvals for staff holiday and absence requests.
  • Working with the Engineering Supervisor to reduce staff late arrivals at work.
  • Add and monitor staff absences, conducting prompt return-to-work interviews.
  • Oversee all overtime arrangements, and make sure overtime is always used cost-effectively in their department.
  • Authorise overtime requests on Bright HR, ensuring staff have adhered to their start and finishing times on time for payroll cut-off dates.
  • Ensure mandatory online training is completed by staff in a timely manner.
  • Opening and closing buildings as required for overtime and weekend work.
  • Maintain time and attendance to company standards.
  • Observe the Health and Safety regulations laid down in company procedures and government legislation, ensuring staff are always in full PPE.

Business Development Manager

The BDM will collaborate closely with operations, engineering, and leadership to ensure customer needs are met efficiently and profitably

Main duties and responsibilities

Includes but is not limited to:

  • Identify and win new business.
  • Qualify opportunities for future sales and growth.
  • Pro-active sales prospecting
  • Follow up on new sales enquiries, ensuring all enquiries are responded to promptly.
  • Two to three in-person sales visits to customers per week
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining own CRM with full visibility for all stakeholders, including a complete record of customer interactions, accurate opportunity tracking data and quarterly forecasts aligned with company growth objectives
  • Produce high-quality sales visit reports, detailing the purpose, discussions, outcomes of meetings, and any concerns, within one to two days of the customer visit.
  • Keep key stakeholders fully up to date on current and future prospects and ongoing projects during Bi-weekly scheduled sales forecasting meetings.

Sheet Metal Operator

Purpose and objectives of the role

A Sheet Metal Operator is an operator who works in the designated department within the Sheet Metal Division. The operator will be trained in several different process machines within that department. They may also be trained to work within different departments within the division.

• To Interface with the production management system.
• To follow the prescribed production and quality procedures.
• To carry out work in the correct order.
• To carry out all maintenance within the stated period.
• To report any concerns to the Shift Supervisor

PCB Process Engineer

Purpose and objectives of the role

Day to day assessment of product quality / product release / process control monitoring, enhancement and development. This is a senior position and an opportunity to join one of the Uk’s Leading PCB manufacturing companies. The successful candidate will be working within the Technical/Process Engineering team. Previous experience of printed circuit manufacture would be advantageous, however applications from any prospective candidates currently or previously having worked within a Process Control/ Engineering position would also be welcomed.

  • To ensure the effective operation of manufacturing processes that fall under your span of control.
  • To ensure that all process operating methods are clearly documented and maintained up to date.
  • To ensure that the manufacturing processes under your control are continually developed / improved to ensure that technological advancements can be realised.
  • To ensure that product being processed through the production process is manufactured to the relevant company / customer requirements.
  • To implement lean manufacturing ideas within areas assigned to you. Utilising methodologies such as 5s, JIT, bottleneck analysis, etc to continually improve.

  • To support the manufacturing operation by reacting to and solving process issues in a timely manner when they arise.
  • To initiate corrective actions, training plans and process improvements where necessary to ensure that the processes under your control operate at their optimum level.
  • Ensure all processes, operation instructions and procedures are fully documented and that all company quality procedures & documentation is rigidly adhered to.
  • Ensure process controls and measures are identified, implemented and monitored for all processes within areas of your responsibility.
  • To review departmental process controls and identify improvements on an ongoing basis.
  • To identify manufacturing capacities for processes under your control. Liaise with Production Team to ensure these capacities are understood and utilised.
  • Understand & publish full capabilities for all processes and highlight improvement needs to the Technical Manager.
  • Liaise with the Pre-Production Engineering department to ensure that CAM & Planning practices reflect current manufacturing capabilities & methods.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities within all processes under your control and implement in conjunction with the Team-leader.
  • Co-ordinate with / support the Purchasing department in pursuit of the company’s strategic Purchasing objectives.
  • To continually monitor and reduce scrap levels within areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure all manufacturing processes and procedures comply with all current H & S legislation and company procedures (including COSHH).
  • To identify, monitor & control all costs within an area in line with company targets. Drive cost reduction activities.

A P.C.B. Operator is an operator who works in the designated department within the Printed Circuit Division. The operator will be trained in several different processes/ machines within that department. They may also be trained to work within different departments within the division.

The main departments within the division are: -
Machining – Department includes operating CNC Drilling and CNC Routing equipment
Wet Process – Department includes operating PLC controlled chemical process equipment, Operating Semi-Automated Direct Imaging systems
Printing and Surface Finishing – Department includes Screen Printing, operating PLC controlled chemical process equipment
Post-production – Includes – Router, Electrical Test and Final Inspection - Department includes operating CNC Routing equipment, semi-automated electrical test equipment, inspecting end-product for despatch.

Main duties and responsibilities

Planned preventative maintenance, fault finding and repair of manufacturing machinery etc.
Key role in contributing to the improvement of Health and Safety within each division and Maintenance Department.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Day to day running of the maintenance department.
  • Manage the safe and efficient running of the manufacturing process.
  • Execute maintenance procedures and prioritise all work in line with programme needs and production availability.
  • Complete regular checks and testing on all plant to ensure they are operating within specification and recorded appropriately.
  • Root cause analysis and resolution of any manufacturing losses related to planned maintenance and supply of machinery components.
  • Ensuring critical spares are maintained and that repairs are conducted promptly and efficiently.
  • Liaise and support on site contractors as and when required.
  • Will work a two shift pattern consisting of an early and a back shift.
  • Support the Divisions' Apprenticeship programme by mentoring and educating the Divisions' Apprentices.

SMT Technician

Purpose and objectives of the role

To set up, operate and maintain the Surface‑Mount Technology (SMT) production lines, ensuring efficient throughput, exceptional build quality and adhere to all safety and workmanship standards. The role supports new product introduction (NPI) and continuous improvement activities within the Assembly division.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Machine Setup & Operation – Load, operate and fine‑tune Mycronic pick‑and‑place machines to meet daily production schedules.
  • Inspection & Quality Assurance – Run Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) and X‑ray inspection equipment; analyse results and take corrective actions.
  • Line Maintenance – Perform routine preventive maintenance on SMT, AOI and X‑ray equipment; liaise with engineering for escalated issues.
  • Troubleshooting – Diagnose placement, solder paste and reflow issues, implement corrective measures and document actions taken.
  • Material Handling – Manage feeders, reels and component traceability using ERP/MES systems; ensure moisture‑sensitive devices follow IPC‑JEDEC standards.
  • Process Improvement – Participate in Lean/6σ and 5S initiatives to enhance throughput, reduce defects and optimise change‑over times.
  • Documentation – Maintain accurate production logs, test records and equipment maintenance histories.
  • Collaboration – Work closely with Production Engineering, Quality and NPI teams to support new assemblies, ECOs and first‑article builds.
