Purpose and objectives of the role

Responsible for the pricing of electronic /mechanical components in accordance with the manufacturing requirements for a diverse product range including medical and aerospace applications.
The primary objective is to ensure that all sales and quotation activities are completed in a timely manner and as accurately as possible.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • The employee will be responsible for accurately collation and presenting pricing for customers bill of materials, utilising the companies MRP system.
  • The employee will be responsible for liaising with other departments and suppliers to ensure quotes are received in a timely manner.
  • The employee will on occasions be required to communicate directly with the customer to ensure correct flow of information.
  • The employee will be responsible for the processing of new orders in accordance with company procedure M4-03-02 Sales Order Processing.
  • The employee will be responsible for the creation of Zot part numbers with Javlin and creating the Javlin Bill-of-materials accordingly.
  • On occasions, work orders will require updating in accordance with company procedure M4-03-03 Works order.
  • All employees may be required to carry out other tasks as necessary for the business. These tasks will be appropriate to their skills and experience and will not be unreasonable.

CNC Machnist

Sheet Metal

Purpose and objectives of the role

As a CNC Machinist, you will work within our Toolroom team to develop and foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration, and high performance.

You will be responsible for using expert knowledge to operate and control numerically controlled (CNC) machines. Where feasible, use knowledge of relevant programming languages and input them into CNC machines for production, while ensuring products have precise and accurate measurements.

You will be keen to take on challenges, develop your technical skills, knowledge and career potential as well as expand your knowledge and experience through a variety of exciting initiatives

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, delivery and cost performance.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for producing quality parts on CNC machines in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform set-up changes, operate, and conduct first article inspections on production runs.
  • Load parts, prove programs, operate controls, set offsets, make simple edits, deburr, and inspect quality parts for conformance to requirements.
  • Identify problems prior to production runs, then start and observe machine operation to detect any other malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, quality standards and inspection requirements.
  • Read engineering drawings, precision measuring instruments and job orders to determine dimensions, tolerance, and tooling requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of dimensions and tolerances for tooling instructions such as feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut and cutting tools to be used.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
  • Undertake relevant cross-division training to develop technical competence, capability, and problem-solving skills
  • Support customer visits, audits, and undertake resolution activities to ensure customer satisfaction and delivery performance objectives are achieved
  • Support the Division's Apprenticeship programme by mentoring and encouraging the ongoing learning of the company’s Apprentices.
  • Comply with all Health & Safety procedures, safe systems of work, risk assessments and PPE requirements.

Assembly Operator

Purpose and objectives of the role

An Assembly Operator is an individual who works in various electronic assemblies within the manufacturing area. This operator will receive training on various processes and machines to complete customer orders and may also be trained to work in different departments within the division.

The main departments within the division:

  • High Level Assembly (HLA) – Assemble high level assemblies and box build products in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions and quality / IPC standards.
  • Through Hole – Carry out high quality through hole hand soldering and associated PCB assembly tasks in line with engineering drawings, work instructions and quality / IPC standards
  • Selective Solder – To set up, operate and maintain selective soldering equipment to produce high quality soldered PCB assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions and quality / IPC standards
  • Stores – Completing deliveries and managing stock levels.
  • Despatch - Working with the planners to ensure work is shipped out correctly.
  • Surface Mount Technology (SMT)– To set up, operate and maintain SMT equipment to produce high quality PCBA’s in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions and quality / IPC standards.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Hands-on working within electromechanical assembly, electronics assemblies and wiring / harness
  • Basic Soldering
  • Read, build and produce products according to specific assembly drawings.
  • Follow work instructions within a Quality Management System
  • Ensure work is carried out in the relevant order or as directed by the supervisor.
  • Maintain required standards in the assembly process whilst ensuring good housekeeping disciplines.
  • Reach required completion times as documented in the process routing to achieve department delivery times.
  • Maintain and understand Quality, Efficiency and Housekeeping to required company standards.
  • Observe Health and Safety regulations in company procedures and government legislation.
  • Maintain time and attendance to company standards.
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks requested from time to time.
  • General housekeeping within the division.

Sheet Metal Operator

Purpose and objectives of the role

A Sheet Metal Operator is an operator who works in the designated department within the Sheet Metal Division. The operator will be trained in several different process machines within that department. They may also be trained to work within different departments within the division.

Main duties and responsibilities

• To Interface with the production management system.
• To follow the prescribed production and quality procedures.
• To carry out work in the correct order.
• To carry out all maintenance within the stated period.
• To report any concerns to the Shift Supervisor
• To inspect the work in accordance with the critical characteristics.
• To ensure that the housekeeping of their work area is to the desired level.
• Maintain time and attendance to company standards.
• Observe Health and Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and government legislation.

PCB Operator

Purpose and objectives of the role

The PCB Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring manufacturing equipment within the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Division to produce high-quality products that meet customer, quality, safety, and production requirements.
Operators will receive comprehensive training across multiple processes and will be required to work in different departments to support business needs and operational flexibility.

The main departments within the division are: -
Machining – Operates CNC drilling and CNC routing equipment used in the manufacture of printed circuit boards
Wet Process – Operates PLC-controlled chemical processing equipment and semi-automated direct imaging systems to support PCB manufacturing processes
Printing and Surface Finishing – Carries out screen printing activities and operates PLC-controlled chemical processing equipment to apply finishes and markings to printed circuit boards
Post-production – Responsible for routing, electrical testing, and final inspection activities. Operates CNC routing equipment, uses semi-automated electrical test systems, and performs final product inspections to ensure boards meet quality standards prior to dispatch.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Operate production equipment and machinery safely and efficiently in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Accurately interface with and update the production management system.
  • Follow established production, quality, and inspection procedures.
  • Complete work in line with production schedules and priorities.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks and record completion within specified timescales.

Maintenance Engineer (electrically bias)

Purpose and objectives of the role

Planned preventative maintenance, fault finding and repair of manufacturing machinery etc.
Key role in contributing to the improvement of Health and Safety within each division and Maintenance Department.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Day to day running of the maintenance department.
  • Manage the safe and efficient running of the manufacturing process.
  • Execute maintenance procedures and prioritise all work in line with programme needs and production availability.
  • Complete regular checks and testing on all plant to ensure they are operating within specification and recorded appropriately.
  • Root cause analysis and resolution of any manufacturing losses related to planned maintenance and supply of machinery components.
  • Ensuring critical spares are maintained and that repairs are conducted promptly and efficiently.
  • Liaise and support on site contractors as and when required.
  • Will work a two shift pattern consisting of an early and a back shift.
  • Support the Divisions' Apprenticeship programme by mentoring and educating the Divisions' Apprentices.
  • Maintain time and attendance to company standards
  • Observe the Health and Safety regulations laid down in company procedures and government legislation
