What will I learn
  • You will work in several areas within our Sheet Metal division to develop your practical skills to support, enhance and develop your Apprenticeship.
  • Basic assembly and hand tool skills
  • Reading and understanding an engineering drawing fully, including all aspects of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • CNC programming/machining and fabrication skills
  • Latest Cam (Computer Aided Manufacture) software.
  • How to measure, cut, and weld pieces according to specifications, blueprints, or directions.
  • How to connect pieces or secure seams by riveting, rolling, soldering, or using steel screws.
  • Perform assigned work on assembly lines on mechanical assembly using various fixing methods and inspection.
  • Completion of in-process inspection sheets and route cards.
  • You will learn how to deburr and inspect your own work.
  • Undertake routine maintenance and safety checks of equipment in use
Qualifications required for a Zot Apprenticeship

4 Standard Grades (1-3) / National 5 (A-C) or National 4 (or equivalent) – mandatory Mathematics and English. Plus, another 2 subjects preferably Physics or a technological subject (Tech Studies, Craft and Design, Graphic Communication, Computing).

Qualities desirable
·       Willingness to learn.

·       Interest in Engineering

·       Good communication and IT skills

·       Ability to use own initiative and a strong drive to succeed

 What Qualifications will I gain?
As a Sheet Metal Apprentice, you’ll attain base manufacturing skills in SVQ Levels 2 & 3 NC in either Manufacturing or Fabrication and Welding. Over a period of 4 years, this will be a mix of you attending college 2 days per week and working in our Sheet Metal Division working closely with our supervisors gaining hands on experience.
Important Information
We are holding an apprentice opening evening for a tour of our division on Thursday, 14th March 2024, starting at 6:00 pm.

You must be available to attend the aptitude test at EDETA Services, Fort Kinnaird, Edinburgh, on Friday, March 15th, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.

Applicants must be available to attend an Interview at our EMA Division by the end of April.
